Wow the Kiddos

Lately, I've been getting in touch with my inner 8-year old. For some reason, I've been fascinated with the games I used to play and I've been sharing them with my nephews (who don't seem to appreciate them as much as I'd hoped). When I stumbled across Polar Origami, my heart soared! Origami was something that adults used to "wow" me with when I was a kid. And now, thanks to this fabulous website, I'm going to do the same for my nephews! Pop on over for some simple video lessons on how to make all the arctic origami animals you can imagine - penguins, leopard seals, polar bears and more. You'll be the coolest adult ever!

Put the "Fun" in Functional

Let's face it, office supplies aren't the most glamorous things in the world. But, of course, some of us are still obsessed with them. Office supply junkies looking for a few quirky additions to their stockpiles can get their fix at Knock Knock, the website that's full of unique must-have office accessories. I mean, who can live without a "useless info" sticky pad? Or a "paper voodoo" pad? And the "cell citation" nifty note that starts with "Everybody can hear you now" is a helpful productivity tool for any meeting. There's even an awesome section that highlights gifts for "annoying people". Looks like I know where I'm doing my Christmas shopping this year!

Junk = Art?

I'm on a big "art" kick these days. Now, I put the word "art" in quotes because, as we know, everyone has their own ideas of what qualifies as true artistic expression. However, I don't think anyone can deny that the mosaic portraits of Sandhi Schimmel Gold make up a beautiful and unique art collection. And the inspiration behind it is fascinating. The pieces are all created from chopped up advertising. So, the next time you're tempted to rip up that annoying Ikea catalogue that keeps showing up in your mailbox, think of it as art...or at least, the raw materials for someone else's art.

Read...Swap...Save

I love the concept for PaperBackSwap.com. It's such a straight-forward idea and it's something most of us do already. It's basically just an online book exchange. Just register (which is fast, easy and free) and post the books you're willing to swap with other members on the site. You earn points for the books you swap and then, you can exchange you're points for books from other members. The books you receive are yours to keep - or swap again. The only thing you have to do is pay the postage (about $2) to mail books that other members request from you (but they return the favor when mailing requested books to you). Pretty. Darn. Cool. Learn more here and then get to swappin'.
