Around the Web: The Spring That Hasn't Quite Sprung
Pain Prevention Software
Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI), like Carpal Tunnel, can be a serious pain. Some severe cases even lead to surgical procedures. To avoid the pain of RSI, most experts suggest resting and stretching your joints regularly throughout the day. But you know how it is - you're so focused on the task at hand, you barely remember to go to the bathroom, much less stop working and rest! Well, Workrave has a solution. Download this program (it's FREE!) and you'll get regular pop-up reminders on your computer screen that tell you when it's time to take a short break and or do a quick exercise. It also lets you know when you've reached your daily limit. You set the timers so it works best for your needs.
Blast from the Past
I've just discovered OnceUponAWin and I just can't get enough! This blog makes note of the big "wins" from the past - those wonderful things we haven't thought of in years but, when reminded, make us smile with fond memories. Things like: whistle pops, Superfudge by Judy Bloom, School House Rock, and of course, Spin Art. Be prepared to feel nostalgic. This website is an absolute treasure chest of goodness.
In the Spirit of the Season...
I'm told its spring but you wouldn't know it here in Atlanta, GA. I suppose the freezing cold weather outside should inspire me to stay indoors and do a little "spring cleaning." So, in honor of "The Spring That Hasn't Quite Sprung" I'm sharing this website: Recycle My Cell Phone. You can probably guess what it's all about. I know I have a few very old cell phones kicking around in my junk drawers. I'll go ahead and take care of them using this handy website and then, I'll hibernate until the sun comes out.
Email Stockpiles Be Gone!
Again, in the spirit of spring cleaning, I thought I would share this AWESOME series from 43 Folders (one of my favorite blogs of all time): Inbox Zero. This series takes a comprehensive approach to managing email overload. In my opinion, it's one of the most helpful series of productivity articles I've ever read - and trust me, I've read a LOT. Also, I just noticed that there's an hour-long video available as well as a slideshow to go along with it. So go ahead: Clean out that inbox! If you've got a stockpile going on, I bet you find a few "overlooked" tasks in there. This series will ensure that NEVER happens again.
OA Retro: How to Use the 43 Folders Tickler System
Just in case you stumble over to the Inbox Zero series mentioned above, you may find yourself wondering what "43 Folders" is all about. I wrote this article a little while ago; it explains how the system works and how you can utilize it to boost productivity.
