Meeting Magic

Here at OfficeArrow, we've had many lengthy discussions trying to figure out the most efficient way to schedule a meeting for a group of people, all with busy schedules. Well, here's a new resource to tuck into your tool belts, my friends. Meet-o-Matic is an application that requires no sign-up for anyone involved. Just pick your available dates from the calendar, add the name of the meeting and your email address and then share your "custom calendar response page" URL with anyone you want to attend the meeting. Once they arrive at the webpage, they will then be prompted to pick a date from the list. You can monitor responses on your "custom monitoring page" and when everyone has participated, you can view the next available date for everybody, and schedule your meeting. Registration is required in order to poll specific times; however, you can simply have people select a.m or p.m without registering. Either way, it's free.

No, I Didn't Know...

I'm going to be honest: this video kind of scares me. It's hugely eye-opening and very well done, but nonetheless, I hit "anxiety overdrive" about two minutes in. The theme is "exponential growth" and it looks at the explosion of technology in recent years and offers projections for the future. In just five minutes, this video brings up a ton of thought-provoking statistics, but leaves you with more questions than answers. I highly recommend that everyone take a look. Just be aware that it's slightly unnerving, ending with the fact that by 2013, a super computer will be built that exceeds the computational capabilities of the human brain and, by 2049, a $1000 computer will exceed the computational capabilities of the ENTIRE HUMAN SPECIES. Sleep tight.

Shopaholics: Do Not Enter!

Ok. I've warned you. If you're still reading, I can't be held responsible for what will happen...

Meet Modista, your new best friend. No, I'll go one step further: Modista is better than your best friend because she never gets tired of shopping, doesn't complain when you can't make up your mind, and continuously provides thoughtful recommendations for you to consider. Here's her strategy: Modista asks you what you're shopping for. When you select, say a handbag that you like, Modista shows you more in a similar style, taking into consideration price, size, brand, or any other filter you'd like to apply. When you finally locate that perfect bag, Modista then offers a convenient link to purchase the item at an online retailer. Now get back to work! No shopping on company time!

Kid-Proof Your Keyboard

If you have children, my guess is you might like this. Since kids are basically starting to use computers in the womb, this program can help ensure they don't cause any serious problems by hitting the wrong buttons while playing a game. Kid Key Lock lets you to lock the keyboard to just allow certain keys to work (for example, if a game requires just the arrow keys, you can turn off everything else). It also works to lock the mouse if needed.

OA Retro: How to Be a Duck

No, it's not about sprouting feathers and learning to quack! It's about learning to cope with negative situations. You've heard the phrase, "like water off a ducks back" used to describe when a person is unaffected by something. This article will help you learn to be just like a duck and bounce back from negativity.
