What is the World Coming to?

If you're the type of person who loves catching public errors in grammar and punctuation (you know who you are) then I have a site for you. Wordsplosion captures images of the most hilarious and ridiculous ways people are slaughtering the English language in carelessly created signs and advertising. Here's the best part: if you're not super savvy with this kind of thing and you don't quite "get" the joke, they supply a link labeled, "Wait! I don't see the problem with this!" which offers a quick explanation, thus improving your language skills! Don't you just love to learn and mock others at the same time? I do!

Wow, Another One?

The internet is all a-buzz this week with another new online collaboration tool just released into public beta. It's called Wiggio and I must admit, it does look pretty cool. You can create shared calendars for your group, send mass text/voice messages and emails, set up group polls, and share your favorite web links in a group folder. Ultimately, it's quite similar to the other existing tools out there (like Basecamp and Wrike among countless others) but each one always offers something a little unique, if only the user interface. So I always like to check out the new stuff and see what talks to me. Take a look for yourself and see what you think.

If You're Feeling Immature...

Ok, I don't really "condone" the office game/prank thing but this was too funny to pass up. If you need a good laugh, check out this list of office dares. The five-pointers really got me. A few of my favorites:

  • Repeat the following conversation 10 times to the same person: "Do you hear that?" "What?" "Never mind, it's gone now."
  • During the course of a meeting, slowly edge your chair towards the door.

Would You Make it in the Air Force?

You all know I'm a sucker for silly computer games and this one pulled me in big time! Apparently, this is a test that the US Air Force uses for fighter pilots (Urban legend? Maybe...) and I think it's supposed to be testing your reaction time. I fail miserably every time! My father (an actual ex-fighter pilot) would be so ashamed! They say that 18 seconds is "brilliant." I last an average of 5. Oh well, it's a good thing I'm happy working at this desk and not attempting to manhandle an F-16.

Seeing is Believing

These days, you need something unique to get your resume noticed. No, you don't have to attach it to a neon sign. You can actually create a visual version online. You can include images, charts and audio to showcase your work experience. Or upload a video to showcase your presentation skills. You can even embed PDFs of awards, diplomas, certificates or letters of recommendation. Pretty cool, huh? And, believe it or not, it's free.
