This is such a important topic - and one that is not often enough approached or discussed - I think because it's much like our ethical decisions - based on our personal values. Integrity is critical to the success and credibility of the office professional and can certainly make or break a career.

Integrity is a topic I cover in depth as a complete chapter in my book, When Work Becomes You, It's All About the Fit!. It might give readers an added resource on the topic. I include some interesting research done on the subject as it relates to administrative professionals.

Office integrity does not begin in the office, near the office or even outside the office. Office integrity begins in the person, when they wake up in the morning, where they live, how they act and what they want in their own life.

If you have no personal integrity, it is not likely that you will have any integrity inside an office, public place or corporation. How could you? If you do not respect your life, your work and your position in life, how can you respect people enough to have integrity in the office.

So the buck begins with you---RIGHT where you are now!
