Re: Tips for Realistic Goal Setting
Hello,

I think this is right. I find that I have this thought in my head that I 'HAVE' to have everything done at once. I feel an aggression which my mother pushed on me to do more and where nothing was ever good enough. Everything had to be more and more and more and I feel I am a failure if I do not get everything done in a day. My mother would ask me what is wrong with me, why can I not do it quicker or in less time. What is taking me so long!

I find writing down my lists of 'To dos' very helpful. Then I know what I can get done and what I cannot get done in a day or week.
It takes the pressure off me to a degree because I know I cannot get everything done at once.

I find I have become more realistic myself over time about what is attainable within a certain amount of time and no matter how difficult it is for me I realise there is no such thing as perfection and redoing things over and over again and getting stuck in the imperfection is not going to get me anywhere or get my work
done any quicker.

I am finding these articles very helpful. Thank you for writing.
I send a heartfelt feeling of goodwill. Thank you again.

Re: Tips for Realistic Goal Setting
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, Sus. I too have the feeling that everything has to be done NOW. It causes huge anxiety and unnecessary stress. It was a big lesson when my previous boss came to me one day and said, "It's ok to leave some things for tomorrow."

It also sounds like you're a perfectionist - like me. This is one of the biggest problems for me because, like you, I have the urge to redo things over and over until they're perfect. Waste of time! And very depressing because nothing is EVER perfect!

Anyway, just wanted to share since we have so much in common! Take care!
