Re: Weekend Wind Down: The Do's and Don'ts of "Casual Friday" Attire
Our office is business casual, but most of us save Friday's for wearing jeans. It's s small, corporate office and our CEO has several visitors on any given week. We want to project a professional image, so most of the guys wear Dockers or nice dress slacks with a collared shirt. Most of the women wear dress slacks or a skirt, with a sweater or shirt and blazer.

That definitely sounds professional. I'll admit: I tend to wear jeans to work everyday, but I make sure to pair them with a button-down shirt or sweater..except for Friday. Do any of you work for companies that have completely forgone the casual Friday policy?

We consider it a gift if we can wear anything other that suits and the guy love it when they don't have to wear a tie to work. And that is kinda how they are use "as a gift from..."

Our company conducts business with plumbers and contractors every day of the week. You never know what they will bring into the office straight from a jobsite that is covered with dirt, mud or something worse. We all wear casual everyday instead of destroying business clothes.

I think "professional" dress is a suit or dress slacks with shirt/tie for men; suits or dresses/skirts for women. It's a very tailored, professional look.

We have had a business casual dress policy for at least ten years. Most of us don't abuse it, and our company president really likes wearing a golf shirt most days. I would really be unhappy if I had to go back to wearing dresses and suits every day.

Friday Casual Wear
I work in a healthcare enviromnent where clinical workers wear their uniforms on Fridays but office staff have the choice of wearing jeans for a $2.00 fee per employee. The funds are donated to United Way of Canada, an organization who is committed to improving lives and building communities. All for a great cause!

That's actually a great idea! One of my friends works for a foundation, and they can pay $1 to wear jeans on Friday. (The money goes back into the foundation). Do any of your workplaces have similar policies?

We have a policy of business casual Monday through Friday and jeans are okay for Friday unless you have a meeting with outside vendors that necessitates you presenting a professional image. Because none of it is enforced, it's gotten way out of hand so people are wearing shorts, ragged jeans, gym shoes, t-shirts, etc. It's really disheartening to me.
