Re: Review: Smart Phones
Great Article Libby. As a user of every one of the phones you list I thought I would add a little line if you don't mind... By far the Blackberry was my favorite for it's ease of use and sooo much you can do with it, in my opinion it is the complete business person's phone with no added fluff. Being the proud owner of an Iphone I must tell you I do not agree with some of your comments. I have had no problems what so ever with my Iphone in my business life, now currently our company is using Lotus for our e-mail and while I thought that might be a problem my tech savvy boss found a work around and I get my corporate mail quicker on my iphone than on my desktop.
Very slick and the only thing I cannot currently do is accept or make meetings on it while we are doing this 'work around', we are however going to move to an exchange mail server which I understand will fix all these issues and we will not have to do this 'work around' anymore. All in all I have never been happier with a phone/PDA except than with my blackberry. Cheers!Last edited by Kathy.jordan; 08-21-2008 at 12:17 PM . |

Re: Review: Smart Phones
I have a Motorola Q9c (special Sprint edition.) I love it as it is completely compatible with Outlook and it's operation system is Windows Mobile 6. The only trouble I encountered was with my local ISP. The Q9c does not allow you to configure your port for sending email, which was necessary for sending email with my ISP. They have the standard port number blocked for mobile devices. If your company uses a Good Mobile Messaging Server, it is compatible.

Re: Review: Smart Phones
I recently read an article that the iphone was having issues with the calls because of faulty hardware..
Dropped calls plague iPhone 3G, and not just in U.S. - Yahoo! News You can read about it in this article. |

Re: Review: Smart Phones
I've used the Blackberry, and found it very easy to use once you get everything configured. I've heard configuration is easier on the newer ones than they were in the past.
The price of the Blackberry can be daunting, but you can often get it drastically reduced by signing a 2 year contract with your phone provider. I've seen them for as little as $50-$100 with a 2 year contract. One thing to be aware of when signing up for a smart phone plan is the bandwidth limits. Many cheaper plans will have limited bandwidth (the amount of electronic tranfer for e-mails and web browsing). When you go over your bandwidth, there are usually some stiff charges for extra bandwidth, just as when you go over your minutes on the phone. So be sure to check out the bandwidth limits when you sign a contract. If you increase your limits later, you usually have to sign a new two year contract for the higher limits. |

Re: Review: Smart Phones
I heartily recommend the HTC PC6800 (known as a Mogul if you use Sprint, as I do). It's got a high rating on PhoneScoop comparing it to Blackberries or iPhones for business use. It utilizes Windows Mobile, synchs Outlook instantly and flawlessly. Has great reception and I've never had a dropped call. Also has great internet access with Sprint's EV-DO and also uses Wi-Fi. It is a little pricey but it's an unbeatable SmartPhone!
