Its ok producing CV Templates but a video CV template would definitely be a niche market. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Question: HR Refusing to give Job Qualifications

I recently had a yearly review and on my review form my job title stated admin. asst III. I ask my boss to explain what was the admin. asst III qualification, because in previous reviews I didn't have admin. asst III on my reviews. He stated according to HR this was my official title and that out of the three admin asst in the dept I was the lower - admin. asst III(out of the three I have the most seniority). My boss and I look at the job description for admin. asst II and we couldn't find any difference in the job duties and responsibilities.

I contacted HR requesting the qualifications for Admin Asst I,II&III. The HR director indicate the company would not be using these level any longer, however, If I wanted to move up to admin II, I could take on a large scope of work and more responsibility. I am very confused because I still don't know what the qualifications are for the admin asst levels, how can I plan a career path when I don't know what I am trying to achieve. I also found out that two previous admin. asst with less experience and no degree have been hired as admin. asst II(which pays $10,000 more in salary). When I was hired four years ago I had my BA & MA and 10yrs office management experience, none of the previous admin. asst had degrees or that amount of experience. Also, my previous reviews have been excellent, I am not understanding how I was place in the lower level, and no one can tell me at this point. Anyone have any suggestions of how I can get HR to respond to my inquire.

Dear fellows,

I have created a new job description for a Customer Relationship Officer in my sales department, this position is needed to fit a new applicant that we have identified for such a position. This position is not currently identified nor planned in the company organizational chart and it does not have any budget for it.

I need to write a supporting letter to HR to address our department needs to create such a position and how to persuade them to approve the creation of this position, bearing in mind that only sales consultant position available in position category of HR.

I hope you can shed some light on this challenging topic to many of us who are frustrated with current company policies.

With my sincere regards.

I work in a very small office. They have just instituted a new policy regarding going to the doctor during the work day. We can go without any dock in hours or pay but we have to bring back the doctor's business card as proof. My problem is, I have ADHD and go to a psychiatrist for medication. I don't want to bring his business card into this small office. People are not very understanding when it comes to Adult ADHD so I have not told anyone here about it. Frankly, it is none of their business. It is not affecting my work. Is it illegal for them to ask for the doctor's business cared? How do I get around this without causing an upheaval?

Discussion: The Equation Between GPA and Recruiting

I never understand why companies have excessive focus on GPA’s during recruiting. My friend is a genius at programming and programs just for fun,...

I never understand why companies have excessive focus on GPA’s during recruiting. My friend is a genius at programming and programs just for fun, fifty hours a week. The rest of the time he attends classes and has a GPA of 2.5. If he has to find a job how do you recruit him?

Dissecting a GPA, what do 4.0 or a greater than 3.8 GPA signify?
1.Hardworking in general
2.Above average IQ
3.The ability to be decently good at anything.

Let’s face it…. no one loves all the courses they take, but to do well despite not loving the course you are taking requires a certain amount of self discipline.

On the contrary here’s what doesn’t necessarily come with the GPA package:
1.Creativity
2.The ability to think independently

A good GPA will do well for a methodical, micromanaged role in a firm. You cannot guarantee innovation from a high GPA. There are people with low GPA’s who are extraordinary and really smart. Why does the recruiting system not give them a chance? Why do companies not go at lengths to find those people? To hire great people you have to get rid of these barriers and not equate GPA with talent. It is worth the effort.
