I am disappointed with the fact that you list an Article (Seven Reasons you will love Windows 7) that may be very informational to a lot of people and then want to charge a fee to read it. In these economic times a lot of us have to spend smart and are unable to pay for “premium” status. It’s unfortunate and I feel that I will need to look elsewhere to help me maintain my step ahead of the rest.

Discussion: searching frustrations, ads

On my search to leave some feedback I found difficult to do so because feedback area is all the way at the bottom of the Discussion thread. I think this would be helpful to have this more visible, maybe even on the toolbar. I tried to search "feedback" and I found the search feature to be awkward. Since it's a "google" run search it didn't have the same look or feel the rest of the site did and I almost mistakenly thought I was tossed to another website. I didn't like how I got a bunch of ads before any of my search results. If I wanted google search I'd just go to google and not office arrow. My search of Feedback yielded me 4 google ads, an unrelated result and then the actual feedback thread.

One more thing, the adds that move give me a headache while reading articles and make my experience less enjoyable. Can you make them stop moving?

I work as an Office Mgr / Exec Asst. to CEO at a small company (7 people total). One of the key managers is constantly dissing the CEO. I think he feels comfortable doing this with me b/c I vented to him a few times. I realized what a huge mistake that was and have since stopped. But what do I do now about this manager continuing to diss the boss? His attitude is so anti our CEO, and it sets a bad example for the team, hinders motivation & productivity, etc. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thank you!

At some point during the day, this new VP comes to me and says that she needs help with something. I offer to help her out whereby she then says that HR told her that I'd be her admin support person. Oh, did I forget to mention that HR DID NOT tell me that I will be supporting this new VP?!? So, tell me ... is it me or is this the new manner in which companies behave today?

Question: Paid Sick/Vacation change

Recently, our president saw a list of all employees with their earned sick and vacation time compiled on one spreadsheet. At the bottom of the page...

Recently, our president saw a list of all employees with their earned sick and vacation time compiled on one spreadsheet. At the bottom of the page were total sick hours and vacation time. He was aghast to see the total sick and vacation hours he would be paying out if everybody used all of their sick and vacation time over the next 12 months.

So, he changed the policy to: "unused sick and vacation time will be forfeited January 1 of every year except for special circumstances" (which only applies to new employees). I was instructed to go back and subtract all vacation and sick time that had been carried forward.

My question is can he take away accrued sick and vacation time earned up to the day he changed the policy? Or should he announce the change stating that going forward unused sick and vacation hours will be forfeited if not used within the fiscal year and allow employees to keep their earned benefits?
