I love lists!
One of my favorite productivity tools is LISTS. Sure, I use the old fashioned "to do" list. But I also keep lists of so much more: "to read", "to learn", and also a "Someday/Maybe" list. This last one is just a big bucket to collect ideas and things I might want to think about or do later. I also keep a list of "meals", so whenever I get bored and feel like I'm eating the same stuff, I look over my list of meals I love and get reminded of things I haven't had in a while. Since I'm a writer, I keep a "to write" list as well. My mom started me on this - she actually keeps a list of everything she has in her freezer (she has a big freezer!), lists of DVDs and CDs she owns, and lists of fabric she has in her craft closet. It's kind of compulsive now that I think about it...

I've found that the biggest trick with this productivity method is remembering to review all of these lists on a regular basis!

So, I'm wondering - what lists do you keep?? Please share!

Re: I love lists!
Oh to find another List maker !! And to think we can thank our mothers for this trait - and I must admit to having passed it on to my three daughters!
I have the To-Do now list, the books loaned out, the movies to see, places to visit, restaurants, book stores.
Because I belong to several organizations/associations I have lists of things to do for each, people to call, deadline dates.
What would we do without our lists !??!!!

What would we do without our lists?? Die a slow, unorganized death...
Now, since I just moved to Atlanta, I've got a whole new set of lists about organizations to join, places to see, etc. It's totally out of control. But in an organized, productive way of course

I keep almost all of my lists electronically. My favorite spot for temporary lists is a draft e-mail. For more permanent lists, I use Excel. Spreadsheets are great for lists, and they're searchable and sortable to find particular items you are looking for.

Jodith, I agree with you, I keep almost all of my lists electronically... My electronic system, however, is Palm. I like using the Palm so that I can see my lists when I'm out and about as well as when I'm in front of my computer... What are some of your "more unique" lists? I have a "Waiting" list... here is where I put all the items that have been "promised" to me (like that order from Amazon, or the email from a friend with a phone number I need, or a call from a prospective client). If enough time goes by without the "waiting" item going away, I move it to one of my other lists (like "computer" - to send an email, or "Phone" - to call with a reminder).
