    Long Timer:

Over the 32 years that you have worked with this company I am sure that you have built a solid reputation. This along with your knowledge and experience are assets that the new management team at your company will be taking into consideration. I agree with Lisa's suggestion to continue maintain your professionalism as your current boss winds down his career with the organization.

I agree with Deana and chrissy " being polite when we entertain them" even the're attitude is not good sometimes. ANother thing is the tone of our voice - Train your voice and vocabulary to be positive when phone answering, even on a "down" day. For example, rather than saying, "I don't know", say, "Let me find out about that for you."

    Title: project work

I've been of office manager during a location move, and it's a big challenge. Talk to your direct supervisor immediately and make a list of your responsabilities. Don't come away without clear specific action items. It's perfectly acceptable to ask directly what he/she sees as your role in this move. I would also find out if there was any task force or team dedicated to this move. Then I would ask to become part of it. If there isn't one, maybe you could suggest it. A move like this consists of so many details and interconnecting pieces - it takes a team that's in touch with each other to pull off seamlessly. From my experience, the admin staff will do a lot of the planning and execute a lot of various tasks.

I agree with deana, it's common to feel overwhelmed when you're first starting a job, especially a busy one. I'm not really an optimist but I try to think optimistically so I would try to see the confusion as an opportunity to make a difference in the company. If the company is doing alright with its chaotic systems (or lack therof), think of what the company can accomplish if you can organize them and set up efficient systems, etc.
