Rate Your Skills
Hello. I am looking for some sort of form that interviewees can fill out in which they rate themselves on a specific set of skills based on our job requirements. Does such a form exist?
I am also looking for some type of personality type assessment that we can have our potential employees take to see if they are a match for our company. Any suggestions? |

Re: Rate Your Skills
Hi,
Perhaps I can help. In fact I will be writing an article on this subject. Tell me what type of business you have and what type of jobs you are looking to fill. I can research it and give you some ideas. __________________

Re: Rate Your Skills
Hi,
I can see your problem here. Your software is industry specific and is not a general software or computer program on the market. I found sites that will assess skills for computer programming but it was for specific programming languages and software. What you need is a skills assessment designed just for your company. There are several skills assessment companies that will design a skills test for your company use. But those are costly and may not be as customized as you really need. I note also that your company is small with under 50 employees. I just guessing, but I imagine the owners wouldn't want to spend money on customized assessments. So what do you do? As a beginning point, I would start with the managers of the employees. What skills do they want? Perhaps with some ingenuity you and the managers can come up with your own skills assessment. Of course, the skills assessment does not replace a thorough interview process, background and reference checks and the like. As for personality tests, Myers-Briggs is a good test as mentioned by the previous poster. However, how do you know exactly what type of personality is best suited for your company? Are you using this test to screen people for hire? I would be careful of this as there may be some legal ramifications on making hiring decisions based on personality tests. Honestly, I don't think Myers-Briggs was intended to be used for hiring decisions. Usually it is used as a tool for building effective teams and communication. Those are just some initial thoughts. If you would like, contact me for more information. __________________
