Re: Funny Business: Humor in the Workplace
Wow! This is amazing! I am a teacher, and I am an employee, and I have always worried about "wasting class time" by letting kids tell jokes. But this year when a kid volunteered a joke a few days into the school year, I stressed the point of CLEAN jokes. I even posted up some of the clean jokes the kids brought in and told. It was something we looked forward to... I should start it again.
I also used to work at Johnny Rocket's Restaurant, and you have to be a "ham" to work there! Sometimes when the kids are talking too much, I look at them dramatically and complain, "Hello? It's all about me!" They laugh, and we get back to business. The funny thing is that I'm *seriuos*! LOL I also sing terribly to them, and sometimes well, and I rap horribly to them about what we're learning, and they groan and giggle, but they actually start making requests! |

ssheehy: Sounds like you are making an impact with your students, and having fun along the way. I agree, humor can be a great aid in getting things done, calming people down and, well, just making the day more enjoyable for all. Keep up the great work in the classroom!
