Oh my goodness. If this does not describe about 99.9% of our population, I don't know what does!
I most definately agree with all of the above. Possibly right next to rejection, people fear to be lonely. Acceptance falls right next to the category of feeling wanted, with a slight difference.
Everyone in fact is a bit selfish in their own way.
People wear many different masks. Some people are completely different given what enviornment they are put into. Work, school, home, public. The theories and empirical research that impart a conceptual understanding of human behavior, cognitive development and psychological disorders can be really quite interesting.
I do believe that understanding more about eachother as human beings, we can better interact and communicate with one another!

I don't agree that people only hear what they understand. I do agree that they only incorporate what they understand. How can you incorporate something you don't understand. However, if I hear something I don't understand, I either try to understand it or I dismiss it. But that does not mean I didn't hear it.
