I come in to work today and a new VP has started with this company. At some point during the day, this new VP comes to me and says that she needs help with something. I offer to help her out whereby she then says that HR told her that I'd be her admin support person. Oh, did I forget to mention that HR DID NOT tell me that I will be supporting this new VP?!? So, tell me ... is it me or is this the new manner in which companies behave today?

I find that there is a breakdown in communication in a lot of companies. Someone got really busy and forgot to send the memo. Unfortunately, we are the last to know. I would calmly and politely go to HR and discuss the new appointment. Is there a reclassification? More money, benefits? and what exactly are the responsibilities. I am not sure if your previous boss was a VP, if not, clearly there will be some new duties.
