Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
I'm currently avoiding any AdHoc tasks the Sales Manager asks of me, as she often asks me to perform complex database queries/research websites/produce reports and then does nothing with the information/asks me to re-send it as she's lost it, or tell her exactly where it is on the drive, as she's deleted the email I sent to notify her. I perform admin for all departments in the company, so she not only wastes my time, but prevents me from helping those who genuinely need the support. I'm procrastinating in the hope of uncovering what is truly essential to her, as she stresses the urgency and importance of each and every task, yet if I leave it a few days, she seems to forget all about it. Curious...

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
In being an optimistic pessimist, I firmly believe the other shoe will drop, it just might be a pretty shoe. I know I am going to have to finish and edit a couple of reports (some are not even mine) and then talk with a superior on Friday. Maybe I will get that evasive stomach bug on Friday...

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
I think I was given procrastination as a middle name at birth and I have been trying my hardest to live up to it ever since. Its funny though I only seem to procrastinate on things for myself.
Current procrastinations are looking something like this, I am moving tomorrow and have movers booked but I have avoided packing for so long I am no where near ready, also haven't organised power, phone etc...opps. But the biggest procrastination at the moment would be the fact that I am avoiding approaching my employers to discuss the fact that our working arrangements are not working well. The procrastination is probably because this conversation could ultimately leave me unemployed... |

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
I am putting off figuring out how to get maybe half of the things done that I should have gotten done a loooong time ago. So, I'm late getting started and nowhere near being finished, but still I find time to write about what's got me procrastinating!

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
At my office, I am supposed to hang up 26 plastic, vertical reference letter holders on a wall. To do this, I must either stand on a chair or find a ladder to stand on to organize the wall to reflect another similar wall in the same area. To do this, I must use a hammer, nails, and a level - DUH. (I don't even do my own picture hanging at home - I call a service.) Meanwhile, I am supposed to hang all these letters and answer all the incoming calls at the same time. Yeah, I'm procrastinating on this one - and I am not ashamed of it!
I was asked to do this a couple of weeks ago, but the phones have been REALLY crazy. Oh, did I mention I am not a young spring chicken? Last edited by DJohn; 03-05-2009 at 05:57 PM . |

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
Procrastination, Procrastination, Procrastination..... Oh, how weary I am of this word. We can always justify putting things off till the last minute... Or even worse, not doing them at all.... but what is it that really drives us to do this?
For me, this evil word that I refuse to utter yet again has taken over my life! How do I approach such a demanding schedule like school with this evil entity.... I turn all of my assignments in just barely making it in before the deadline or three hours after the deadline... How do I approach this in life.... FICO loves to talk about my procrastination.... How do I approach this word in life? Ohhhh... I can call/do that/ see them tomorrow.... lol Well, in honor of procrastination week, I have come to the conclusion that it is now time to burn that nasty word procrastination and get it together.... start knocking things off my to do list as soon as possible and stop putting it off until tomorrow... Will I be successful in this endeavor. Let's pray that I am! ~Loving to lose that evil that is procrastination... |

Re: Procrastination Contest: What Are You Currently Avoiding?
Transcribing minutes. Augh, how I loathe transcribing minutes. I usually wait until the third Tuesday of the month before I start transcribing (one week before the next meeting). This month, however, my boss has requested that I turn in the minutes to her before Tuesday, 3/10. To meet that goal, I've planned ahead and I've done all my other weekly activites in advance. Now, when I go into work tomorrow, after I complete a few routine morning activities, I will transcribe the minutes. My deadline will be lunch time. Now I just need to psych myself up to tackle the task. I can do this! I can do this!
