Re: Share Your Passions Contest
I would drop what I was doing in an instant if I knew I could make a living producing and promoting edifying entertainment. I believe that the arts are more important than most people think and its impact on individuals and society has a tremendous effect. You are what you eat, and everyone consumes art in some way, shape or form. Art galleries, theaters, cinemas and musical venues all serve particular dishes of entertainment and most people do not even stop and notice what they are "eating" and how it is affecting them.
Since most people don't monitor what they consume when it comes to the performing arts, I want to feed them the best possible entertainment. They want a greasy cheeseburger or a fatty piece of cake when they should be eating fish and brussel sprouts. My dream is to take the "brussel sprout" stories of screenplays and musical lyrics and make them so attractive ("delicious") that audiences won't be able to help but want them. |

Re: Share Your Passions Contest
My dream lies deep wtihin the confines of my computer and my passion deep within my mind and heart. You see, my passion is writing and my dream is to see my novels in print. Plural - novels. I have one written, one halfway finished, and seven more in various stages of outlining. I have reams of short stories and pages of poems. But, they languish, unseen for now.
If I did not need my paycheck from my executive assistant job, I would spend my days in blessed solitude while my husband and son were at work and school. I would have the time to be both disciplined about my writing and flexible enough to spend a day being inspired by something as banal as a scent or a sound. I could put together submission packets during the day and get a full night's sleep -- right now, I take Friday and Saturday nights to stay up into the wee hours of the morning to do submissions. The idea of following my natural creative flow instead of trying to force it around the day to day chores of family and work is a wonderful dream. That is what keeps me up late into the night making those submission packets because I know, someday, I will have this. I will walk into a bookstore and see myself in print. Because passion without follow through is a hollow feeling. |
