Re: In the News: The Work Spouse
First, if your spouse is jealous because you confide in someone at work, then there are serious trust issues in your relationship that you need to address anyhow. I'd *expect* my spouse to develop close friendships at work; she spends nearly a third of her life there!
Second, I don't believe anyone should ever avoid something completely above-board just because some other people might presume something. If you can't trust your co-workers not to spread inappropriate gossip, then your problem is in the relationship you have with your co-workers, not the one you have with your "work spouse". I'd say that if you're constantly ducking out to private meetings with someone to kvetch about work, you might consider whether you really understand your own motives (and theirs). If it truly is platonic, then never mind what other people think. |

Re: In the News: The Work Spouse
My thought is, if you get along with this person the same way as with someone not of your sexual orientation, then there's not an issue. If you're a straight woman, and you treat this gentleman the same way you treat a girlfriend, then there's nothing wrong with it.
However, if you flirt with this person, then you need to really think about what you are doing. You could be crossing a line emotionally that *would* be a betrayal to your spouse. __________________
