Never Eat Alone
I purchased this book for the book club and though I haven't finished it, I really like it. The author makes really good points and I find myself learning. I've often thought about my network of people as the few I can call on in need and have selfishly horded them. I know now that this is completely the wrong attitude.
I've also had trouble in the past with realizing that "if I don't ask, I'll never know". This is something I'm working on after it was pointed out in the book. It's often difficult to step outside of my shell and open myself up to rejection. It's important for me to realize that I don't have to do everything myself; I can ask for help. And, utilizing the resources of others is not shameful and doesn't make me weak. I don't know what I've been afraid of all this time, but I'm looking forward to helping others and letting others help me in the success of my life. I just wanted to check in and report on this book. Thanks for the great recommendation Jackie! |
