Re: OA Book Club: Review of "Getting Things Done"
I took the David Allen seminar and got a lot out of it. I am pretty neurotic about my organization skills and still walked away with practical ideas on how to improve. However, I am still a day planner girl and many of the techniques you learn in the seminar is more practical if you are an Outlook or Blackberry User.

Re: OA Book Club: Review of "Getting Things Done"
I stumbled onto this book after my husband bought it and never finished it - and it completed changed my life as a PA. I agree with the article which says that the book complicates things too much and goes into a little too much detail for my information. (If you read right to the end - he recommends a list for practically everything - you'd need a list to manage all your other lists!)
But - having said that - the overall principles in the book are golden and I use them every day at work. I especially love the tickler system, it makes my boss passing me endless papers, email printouts, etc for "my meeting on the 30th", so easy to file - and so easy to find when I need it. A must read for all the PA's out there. |

Re: OA Book Club: Review of "Getting Things Done"
Hi everyone!
I've scheduled an interview with David Allen and I'm so excited to talk to him about GTD and productivity. Here's my question for you: What would you like to know??? I'm working on coming up with questions and I thought I would pose it to those of you who just recently read his book. Please share! |
