Perhaps you are not comfortable in speaking. Possibly attending a meeting of ToastMasters would help with that. they have helped millions of people become better speakers.

Sometimes people are just quiet, I know I am. If I don't have anything to say, I won't. It might be a good idea to look into temperment personalities and how they affect co-workers/what personalities work well together etc. Also it may be good to talk about your boss' expectations when it comes to you talking more. It may be an issue on their end that they expect you to be like them. I found a great book on Amazon.com called The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World by Marti Olsen Laney (Paperback - Feb 1, 2002). I've still not made it all the way through because it has so much good information. Good luck to you.

I agree with vjlair. Some people are just natually quiet. What I think your boss may mean is that you aren't open to sharing your life. Some people think that if you don't share things in your everyday life, you are then stuck-up but that's not true at all. Everyone is different and not everyone knows what to say to others. Some people can at times share too much of their personal lives in the workplace. I am a people person so I am always willing to share but I have learned over the years that you cannot share everything. Some people are just more private.
