I always read aloud and ask someone else to proof my work. These have saved me so many times!

Great tips! I always read my emails aloud and VERY slowly to myself making sure I say each word. I find at times that I miss words because my eyes play tricks me -- those pesky, yet very important words like of, the, a, to, too, if, etc... If read too fast, my mind just plops them in even if they aren't there. Sometimes I even run my finger along the screen. I wonder if I spend too much time on an email, but better safe than sorry.

These are all great tips but what if you don't have another set of eyes to view and/or are usually under time constraints?

I love spell check with my email editor and when I use MS Word, I am able to use spell check to check my documents too.

I think that proofreading a letter or other correspondance is a huge part of business. I know that when I get a letter or email with a bunch of misspellings I don't take it seriously. I read things two and three times before I send it out. I know this sounds a bit anal but I want to mke sure that everything flows-the spelling and the grammar. When I can I use spellcheck (but not as an end-all be-all because even that is wrong) and I have gotten comments on my command of the language--It's a good feeling.
