Does anyone have a good Records Retention log?
I am working with another admin to improve the document retention procedures in our company. We are trying to come up with a good internal transmittal that documents the storage box number, the files within the box, and the destruction date to be noted prior to it leaving our premises. Does anyone have a good transmittal or log worksheet that they would be willing to share?

Re: Does anyone have a good Records Retention log?
We use the attached spreadsheet. The columns in blue are the general print area - we print and keep this info in a binder for general look-up. The 1st column is really for quick reference: to "find" the start of a group by alpha letter. You can reset the print area if you want to show/print the shred columns. Boxes are named by type, year and box #. B=business I=Individual.

We are moving to scan our archive documents rather than paper/hard copy archive. However, there will always be some items we keep in boxes.

Hope this helps or gets your creative organization juices going.

Thank you. I really like this and can probably integrate my information into this.
