Re: Google Calendar versus Outlook?
Google Calendar Sync is made just for that purpose. It works for your main Calendar only, so make sure that is the one you want Outlook items to show on. I configured my GCal to have an additional "Personal" Calendar for items that I did not want to show up in my 'work' Outlook.

Re: Google Calendar versus Outlook?
A fee from Google for the Calendar is not likely. As with their Search and immensely popular Gmail, they always have been free. Google makes it's money on Advertising. As you use the Google Calendar, there are ads sprinkled around the page. This is where Google makes it's money. But as you use Google's services, you start to not even see the ads.

Re: Google Calendar versus Outlook?
Do you have a problem with company firewalls using Calendar Sync? Being able to sync google calendar with Outlook would be awesome, but I can't imagine my company allowing it through the firewall.

Re: Google Calendar versus Outlook?
I just played with the Google Calendar Sync and it's awesome. One question, is there any way to get Outlook to take your flagged emails and turn them into task list items and/or/also put your dated/timed reminders on your calendar? My calendar looks a lot more sparse than it truly is because I use the flag/reminders for a lot of things...I'd hate to actually have to take the time to turn them into tasks and calendar items.

Re: Google Calendar versus Outlook?
Outlook has other functions - mainly integrated tasks functions and ability to integrate them with Calendar. For just calendar function GCal is great allows sharing with others much easier and allows to have multiple calendars etc.
As Anthony mentioned a good synch tool will keep GCal and outlook in synch and can be useful. |
