Out of Office Message
Hi all,
Wondering if there is any such thing that PAs do for their bosses. Say myself or my boss is away on vacation besides email and out of office message can I use anything good-looking to post a note on his office door to notify staff that he is not 'in'. What about printing out on an A4 size sheet? Thanks, Salwa |

Re: Out of Office Message
I did that one time for one of the managers I report to, however it was a bit of a jest. He gets frustrated using Microsoft Office and has made less than positive comments about Microsoft in general. I posted a sign on his door and told people that he was out at MS headquarters beta testing Windows 7. (His office is in a secured area so there are a limited number of people who could have seen it - and most know how he feels about that subject.)

Re: Out of Office Message
The solution I use is to simply keep my executives' lights off (and door closed, if possible) when they are out of the office. That tends to send a clear signal - from a respectable distance - that they are not in. Works well especially in office environments where a "paper" sign would be considered distasteful and not fitting with the decor.

Re: Out of Office Message
My office has a sign board (dry erase)attached to the door and we leave messages on the door so that when visitors come by they will see that we are out of the office and possibly when we will be returning. The board says "welcome" at the top and has space to be written with a dry erase marker with an eraser. It's actually efficient and has worked out great for us for 5 years. No complaints!
