interest waning
I have been a temp here for 7 months. I like the work and would love to be hired on. About every three weeks I check in for an update on my hiring status. I get the same response, "We want to hire you, don't want you to go. We are waiting for an approval from the parent co. in another country." I feel like I am being strung along. Has anyone else been in this situation and are my feelings unwarranted?

Re: interest waning
It's normal to feel that way. Keep in mind that in the current economy many businesses are reluctant to add permanent head count. It sounds like you work for a multinational firm so their financial considerations may be a bit broader than what is readily visible in your office. If you like the work, it may be worthwhile to wait it out and see what happens vs moving on to a company that you may not like as much. What other considerations do you have such as benefits and the overall job market in Los Angeles?

Stay the course. I agree with brian; most economic indicators are advising companies to keep employees in part-time or as independent contactors. They will, as conditiions permit, add full time employees. As long as you can make ends meet and like the company, hang in there until economic conditions stabilize.
