Re: Feeling Cluttered? Set Up Virtual Workspaces
The XP version can be quite confusing to use because they didn't provide any instructions with it. You right-click your task bar, choose Toolbars, and then check Desktop Manager.
It also gives you 4 different desktops to work with. You can open 4 different programs, and have each open in a window in each of the 4 desktops, so instead of moving between applications on one desktop, you can move between desktops where the applications you want are already open. I'm not sure I'll use that functionality or not. Last edited by Jodith; 10-07-2008 at 06:19 PM . |

I went to download the program, but it was only given 2 stars (82 people would recommend it while 280 would not). I would be careful about suggesting a program when so many said they would not.

Re: Feeling Cluttered? Set Up Virtual Workspaces
I agree with Jodith the XP version can be confusing at first because there is no tutorial. But really it is very simple and Jodith has provided some great instructions. The concept is great and I love the fact that I can easily switch between workspaces without minimizing and maximizing repeatedly or by pressing the tab constantly. I operate on two screens and after the first virtual workspace there are some limitations on the second screen...otherwise I would recommend this to any busy professional who repeatedly utilizes several open applications simultaneously.

Jodith.
Thank you very muchfor the brief tutorial! The problem with the lack of documentation stems from the fact that this is what is known as a "Windows Power Toy" which means that Windows will distribute it, but not support it. (If you want to know more about that perplexing concept you can check out the Power Toys Site http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/D...powertoys.mspx) JBell. I can see where community rating may deter you, but you have to take into account that most raters give their thoughts on a piece of software within the first half hour of downloading it, that's not much time to get a feel for the program. In addition, you don't know about the raters background. They may not have the same needs you do. I always test out a piece of software before I recommend it. GeeBee Thank you for the compliment. |
