Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I've been on Twitter for a couple of months now and at first I thought it was the most meaningless waste of time, but now I totally see the benefit and highly recommend it. Sure you can use Twitter to keep up with your friends and family, but you can also announce your latest blog post, changes to your website, a new product or service you are offering or anything else you can think of.
Twitter can be used as another social networking medium to market yourself or your business and because you only have 140 characters to work with it forces you to get right to the point. Also by using Tinyurl, you can put a direct link to your blog, interesting article you've read or written or anything else you want people to know about. Yes, Twitter can be addictive but if you focus on its benefits and use it as a networking tool rather than just tweeting about how you just went to the grocery store or had a cup of coffee, you can get a lot out of it! I started with just a couple of followers, people that I knew from other networking sites, now I have about 40 followers and am meeting a ton of great people and learning a lot as well. If you'd like to follow me you can find me @jrnees I'll see you on Twitter! Jackie |

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I don't get Twitter, but this helps. The stuff I saw on it seemed to be useless information and meaningless. I also don't know how to Twitter (I haven't looked any information up on it because I didn't see the point). I might check it out now.
Thanks, |

Ok everyone. I've finally done it. I'm twittering! I have no idea what's going on but I've officially joined and given a "tweet" as well. Not quite sure I "get it" but be sure to follow me! I'm definitely going to give it a whirl. I'm following all of you already! My twitter username: MakeWordsHappy

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I'm in the same boat of not quite getting it. I've been on Twitter for some time, but I find that I use Facebook & LinkedIn a great deal more and they offer the same concept in my (personal/profession) peer groups. I have started using FuelFrog which is nicely Twitter integrated. Does anyone know of any other Twitter-friendly services/apps out there that will help make this a useful tool?

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I'm still figuring out all this social media stuff *laughs*. I've been an internet junkie for years, but for me it's always been newsgroups and forums rather than anything real time. Being the introvert that I am, I find real time chat over the internet drains me just as much as face to face does.
I much prefer a place like this where I can reply in my own time. I might eventually try twitter, but I imagine it will go the same way as messenger for me. I do really like Stumble, though. |

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
Our show today on Bigg Success features a professional we met on Twitter! My husband and I enjoyed the useful links to articles he would share. Twitter has also been a fantastic way to stay in contact with people we meet at various conventions. By seeing their "tweets", we get to know them even better, which allows for even richer conversation the next time we talk. I'm going to follow you now, I'm @marylynn3 and my husband is @gkrue.

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I finally set myself up on Twitter (Jodith, in case you also tweet), and have found myself addicted. I love getting these little glimpses into peoples lives and work.

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
Hello Anthony,
I also recently joined Twitter and I am at the exact same stage as you. I don't understand half of the postings still, but the ones I do understand I have started to reply to. I do like the service and I also have picked up a lot of very interesting people to "follow". I like the way people you don't know will ask to "follow" you. I am not addicted to it, but I will post to "what are you doing right now" on a fairly regular basis. I find having to fit my thoughts into the limited space has helped me learn how to communicate effectively with less words ! This is no skill to dismiss. For personal relationsips I've grown to love Facebook. But for reading what others I don't necessarily know have to say, I do lide Twitter. I do think it takes practice. I haven't found any professional use for it - for that I recommend Linked In - there you can find old coworkers, which is wonderful. Enjoy your "twittering". I am glad to hear from someone else who is at the same stage as I am. |

Re: Twitter - Do you "get it"?
I remember when I first discovered blogging. I had heard of it and wondered what it was. Now I blog and I get it! Same thing with Twitter. I am hearing things about it, but right now just don't get it. I am a late bloomer however and may figure it out just like I did with blogging.
