Hot, Trendy Restaurant in Miami - "only the Locals know about"
HELP! This is a great question for the Office Arrow community and I'm hoping that someone from Miami is able to help me out.

I start my new job in a week and I want to dazzle my new boss of course. He's already begun emailing me (he's eager to have an assistant again). His first request is the following:

"I am a keynote speaker at the (yadda yadda) conference in Miami in October. I want to host an exclusive dinner for 10 people at a restaurant in Miami, preferably in South Beach. But I need a very exclusive, high end place where I won't see others from the conference. A place only the locals know about. Dinner at 8:30. Reservation in my name. Can you do this?"

Of course my answer was a solid, unwavering Y.E.S. He doesn't need to know I'm thinking "OMG, I know nothing about Miami." I'm going to of course call the Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, but he wants something "only the locals know about." I immediately thought of Office Arrow. Anyone have any hot tips?

Thanks!!

Well, there are 2 famous restaurants there-Joe's Stone Crab and The Forge. Joe's will open on 10/10-they close part of every year. But it is VERY busy, no reservations and a long wait. The Forge has been around forever and is always superb.

I have heard very good things about Barton G's, The Blue Door and A Fish Called Avalon.

Also, you might want to check out Miami: Luxury Travel Destination South Beach Style, for Info on Nightlife, Restaurants, and Hotels.

Good luck.

Hi Galfriday
You might want to try OpenTable Restaurants and Restaurant Reservations to find a suitable restaurant. Always call the Maitre D' and explain the importance of the dinner; they'll be very accommodating.

I also want to add that, when I was an EA my boss stayed at a very nice hotel and we were planning on a big dinner in the area. Then, something came up, and the attendees were unable to make it there on time. I spoke to the concierge and he booked us a separate room in the hotel restaurant and the dinner was fabulous. It was very private, excellent service, and the food was spectacular. We couldn't have asked for better. The concierge made it happen in less than just a few hours. So...if all else fails....talk to the hotel folks. They know people and they know the best places in town.
