One of the primary concern these days for hotels is if they have high speed internet, do they have it in-room, and does it cost extra.

The list of items I usually get preferences for from the boss are:

• Type of bed - King or queen
• Gym access - don't forget to get gym hours
• Business center - ability to fax documents, have packages delivered
• Preferred types of restaurants in the area and their hours
• Parking availability and cost
• Airport shuttle if not renting a car
• Smoking or non-smoking
• High speed internet and cost
• Check in and check out times and availability for early check in or luggage storage until check in
• Kitchenette - especially for longer stays
• Laundry facilities or laundry service - again, important for longer stays

Thanks Toni for that wonderful insight on booking hotels; i find item #2 very very useful for me whenever i book a hotel for my boss for her overseas business trips especially in the US. I never realized that an 800 number would connect me to a home office. Thanks for sharing seriously . I usually book for a room without breakfast for short stays and when departures flights are on the early hours of the morning....
