I think that this was a great piece and I just want to add that; although this may sound a bit odd, I like to imagine myself going on the trips as well. Since this takes away from the monotony of the workplace it gives me a personal interest in finding the best and the easiest way possible to get from point A to point B and points C, D,E, and F. I also look for little tidbits of that location through travel forums and internet sites for restuarants or quick ways to get around in the city. I suggest certain things to my boss about the place and it seems to impress him, that I know about the city (sometimes even more than he does). I now get asked advice if others are traveling as well. I know this is alot and I can't always do this if I'm super busy, but instead of gossiping I just do some research--it helps in the long run when things get wacky and your boss is freaking out in a strange city. You feel confident that you can help him navigate his way out of a jam because you know where to go even if you've never been there. And the more confident you are about a situation the more your boss will be confident in trusting you. Now I let my boss know if a plan he has is good, bad, or just insane...they listen to me.

Thanks for the input guys! I love the idea of offering "little tidbits" of info about the location. That is certainly going above and beyond. It really gives you a chance to shine like a super star
