The best thing to do is call the embassy of the country to see what is needed. Some countries really want to know the details of the trip while others will grant you a visa when you land. Basically the invitation letter should come from the company that your boss is visiting in that country. Say, if he's visiting a company in China then the letter has to come from that company with it's Chinese address.

I also have a basic template that I will send you.

Yes. I do.

Here's a sample letter, but also make sure to contact the consulate office directly if you're not sure... which country are going to? Just curious.
