Old Employee Stalker
Hello! I have an issue. This woman left the positon I now have in December of 2007. I was hired for her position in January of 2008. It turns out that she had moved states away, but had worked here for a while.
Anyways, around April she stopped by, I assumed for a vacation visit. I was really nice to her and we chatted for a good amount of time while she waited for my boss to return. So then later, I was called into my bosses office. He wanted to make sure I was happy because that woman asked for her job back. He told her no. But since then she comes in at least once a month. She has even tried to tell me that i should do this or that. I told one of my managers that it concerned me for my job security and he said "yeah she really needs to move on" but nothing has been said to her. She keeps coming in, talking to everyone and it makes me nervous and Plus i just do not like her. WHat should I do? Thanks. |

Re: Old Employee Stalker
It sounds like you are handling it the best way possible. As long as you make it clear to your boss that you are happy in your current position, I don't think you should worry too much about her. It seems like she's trying to pry her way back into the role, but everyone else has moved on except her.
Keep focused on your job and keep open lines of communication with your boss so you can continue to express your satisfaction in your role. I would try to keep it positive and not show your concern since your boss already told her she couldn't have her job back. Keep us posted! |

I would let her know, in every conversation with her, just how happy you are in your job. Then change the subject by asking her about her work preferences. Who knows? You may even be able to suggest jobs to her.

Re: Old Employee Stalker
Thank you so much for your tips. I will definitely keep smiling and try to ignore her. It is difficult though. We have since moved locations, within the last month. That has not stopped her from "popping by." I can't wait until she moves on. I will keep you posted.
