Scheduling a Visit to Capitol Hill
For many of us working in the DC Metro Area, there is an understanding that when trade association members or company officers come to DC, it may involve a trip to Capitol Hill to visit their congressional representative either on the House or Senate side. How do you get your leader..connected to Government leaders? The resource I've always used is what is known as the Leadership Directory or the Congressional YellowBook. Within the Directory, you can find your congressional representative and within that listing is a name and phone number for staff scheduler. I'm not sure this is listed on USA.gov: The U.S. Government's Official Web Portal site. Or, if it is, not all pages are updated . Do you have another resource? Any suggestions or best practices to securing a visit? Best/Worst times for trying to get an appointment? I know August is terrible because Congress is recessed. And, this being an election year.. it may be tough all the way through to the election and inauguration. (See my other posting on getting folks to DC for the Inauguration.) |
