Nerdy Confessions
I read a really funny blog post recently about Nerdy Confessions - those things you secretly do that are totally embarassing but just a part of you. The post was so funny, I tought I'd throw it out there to our community to see what your Nerdy Confessions are. Here are mine:

1. There's nothing I love more than cleaning my house while singing and dancing around to Broadway tunes - Phantom and Les Mis are my fav.
2. I am a CNN junkie (and I have a not-so-secret crush on TJ Holmes, the weekend anchor)
3. If I could pick one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be salsa. I can eat it with a spoon. It is pure, unadulterated heaven.

Now, let's hear your Nerdy Confessions...go on...be honest!!

BTW - here's the original blog post that sparked this whole thing: http://www.onsimplicity.net/2008/11/three-nerdy-confessions/

Re: Nerdy Confessions
When I read this, I tried to convince myself that I'm just not that nerdy, therefore I don't need to confess. But alas, a few things came to me:

I whistle A LOT. I don't whistle songs I know, I make them up as I go. I walk around the house whistling all day. I don't know why.

I really like Journey, even when I was a teenager. I once decided to put sub woofers in my car; not for the bass, but bigger sound. When they were installed, I forgot that I had a Journey CD in the player in my car. The first thing anyone could hear when they tested the speakers was "Don't Stop Believin." That was a pretty nerdy moment.

I'm sure I have many more nerdy quirks but that's all I'll report for now.

Okay, know the song "White and Nerdy"? Yeah that is me, my husband, and my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. One saturday morning my husband and I decided for the fun of it we would read the "Q" section in the Dictionary. Anyone else know the meaning of the word "quire"?

Badgergirl. I have no idea what to say. The Q section?? Why Q?? That sounds like a wild and crazy Saturday morning But now you have me curious. I'm going to go look up "quire".

And Libby - Don't Stop Believin' is a classic...nothin' to be ashamed of my friend!!

Chrissy - it was so random it was funny. My mom called and asked me the definition of "baleful" and somehow we ended up in the "Q"s. I cracks me up because in our family, we are considered the "cool" aunt and uncle. Go figure!

Re: Nerdy Confessions
*laughs* And here I thought I was the only person nerdy enough to read dictionaries. My favorite new word is "absquatulate", which means to hurry away. I just love the way it sounds.

I've read all the Harry Potter books....multiple times. Seriously, I read them about once a year.

I answer rhetorical questions. I figure if someone asks a question it's because they want an answer. I never was that good at reading social cues *laughs*.

I love ABBA...and Air Supply. I mean, really love them. If I hear their music, I sing along and dance around the room. And I'm 46 *laughs*.

Re: Nerdy Confessions
I love ABBA and Air Supply too!!!

I really didn't think I had any nerdy tendencies, until last night it hit me . . . I collect buttons. I don't know why. I don't sew. I don't do anything with them, but I keep all my old loose buttons in a jar. I think it has something to do with my grandfather because he did the same thing. He had an old cookie tin full of buttons.

I'm also intrigued by foreign films. I don't understand them. I don't read the subtitles, but I'll sit there and watch them and make up my own dialogue.

I'm also full of useless information and little facts about things that people are completely uninterested in.

Re: Nerdy Confessions
I'm a complete Music Nerd. My friends and I used to whistle a pitch and then guess which pitch it was. Of course, we had a tuner handy to determine who was right. We also used to switch instruments and try to play a song together..I am terrible at the tuba (its too big).

I would rather listen to Frank Sinatra than anything else, at any time in the world.

I can't stand being late. If I am late, or someone I'm traveling with or meeting is late it will ruin my day in a hearbeat.

Itineraries are my favorite thing to format and create. And plan. Sometimes I like to research a destination just to imagine what I could do if I actually went.

My Nerdy confession is whistling and singing songs that come out of the blue. For instance it could be in the dead of summer and I will be singing Christmas songs. The other day I started singing The Rubber Band Man by the Spinners. The only thing I can figure is that the infomercial for the Midnight Special DVD had a clip of the Spinners.
They tell me to get a life!!! LOL
