Fitness in the Office
A lot of workplaces are doing 'Biggest Loser Contests'. What are you all doing? Anyone else needing suggestions? I have some great ones and we are doing some great health/fitness movements, is anyone else having challenges or have solutions?

Re: Fitness in the Office
I personally have a problem when "fitness" and "wellness" programs are so heavily tied to weightloss. Many recent studies are showing that health is actually not linked so much to weight as it is to fitness levels, and fat does not necessarily mean unfit.
I'm all behind workplace fitness programs. I've been involved in many and it's a big help in staying fit. However, it really drives me crazy when these programs are so heavily weighted towards weight loss. *snickers* Heavily weighted...get it? Anyway, where I'm currently working, the fitness challenges have nothing to do with weightloss, but rather activity levels. You put together a team of 4 coworkers, and you log how much you exercise each week. The contest lasts all year, and the team with the highest activity level wins. I'd join, but I'm just a contractor, so not included :-( __________________

Re: Fitness in the Office
While I agree with Jodith, I would also like to see more workplaces getting on the bandwagon of 'Fitness Programs' for Employees.
Even if not for the focus of losing weight (to each their own goals, I say), but just to get up and moving, and stretching those muscles. It's proven to kick your brain into gear as well. So, Paraiscoat, I would really like to hear what your ideas are, and hopefully put one or more of them into action!!! |
