Office politics
I have an instruction sheet on how to change our color toner that is laminated and taped to one of the cabinet doors in our exec copy center.

I noticed that someone came along and crossed out wherever I had noted the word "color" and replaced it with "colour" in a green marker!

Needless to say, despite my professional demeanour, I was very insulted and angry!

I thought this through and sent an email to all our salaried employees (who have access to this color printer), except my boss. I don't think he needs to deal with office politics.

My email simply stated, "Whoever wrote on the instruction sheet for the "color" printer can come see me."

Our HR Manager was shocked when I told her what happened.

No one showed up either.

I will not be a victim of abuse or office politics and I feel strongly that my email was professional and sent a message. No one in a professional office should act this way! I am still angry about this, despite trying to let it go.

As an EA, it was an assault on my grammar. As is stands, there are a few people in our office who are from the U.K. and obviously, "colour" is spelled with a u in the U.K. but in the U.S. and Canada, it's spelled without a u. Anyone can confirm this by looking it up in a dictionary!

In closing, I believe this person has way too much time on their hands as well!

I don't really feel like receiving any negative feedback, but wanted to share how sometimes, there isn't much respect for an AA or an EA.

Re: Office politics
I'm glad you sent out the email, and not surprised no one has stepped forward. At my previous job, I had one individual who constantly would start a discussion by saying, "In Europe this" or "In France we..." It took along time and A LOT OF PATIENCE, but I finally broke him. To this day we remain good friends.
