Extra Unpaid Work
What is the worst extra unpaid work you have ever had to do for your job? I was in the Navy and this was a daily ordeal so I am curious if anyone else can come close.
I would say the worst I ever had it: I once had to work 7 days straight, I was supposed to be on leave (vacation), 12 hour days and it was 100% unpaid and I never even got a thank you for the work. It was physically intensive wiring installs, I was on my feet all day and came home covered in grease each and every day. |

Re: Extra Unpaid Work
I don't know that I've not gotten paid for work that I've done, but I have had to use sick days to work from home.
My last job was very demanding, and although the department would have functioned just fine without me, I always felt terrible for going home sick, so I always offered to work from home. Our company didn't exactly think their office professionals were responsible enough to work from home, so it was not paid as a regular work day. It always bothered me that they felt I was a superior EA, trusted me with a company laptop, but because I was lumped in with all of their other admins, most of which were young, underpaid and somewhat irresponsible, I often got treated by upper management like I was less than stellar. |

Re: Extra Unpaid Work
It's 1:30AM here and I'm replying on OfficeArrow and going through some RSS feeds and answering an email. Definitely not work that I am doing "on the clock". I am however, in a sales position, and the more sales I ring in, the more commissions I would make. So am I getting paid for my efforts at this late hour? Possibly.
If I was required to do something mundane and not to my benefit, then I would have a problem with it. I do this by my own will, to better my funnel and get more done. Anthony __________________
