Is anyone certified as an assistant???

If so, is it worth it? Do you feel it helped you to be more confident in your job? Did the training/studying cover every office tasks that you may have had little or a lot of experience in?

I passed the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) exams from IAAP*. I really just did it for myself, to see if I could; didn't really expect any kudos, or money, from my employer and I didn't get it. So yes, it helped my self-confidence. The books I studied were on things I was unfamiliar with (economics, business law, etc) so that was quite educational.

It's a nice "extra" when you're job hunting since a lot of people aren't certified. It's usually an eye-opener for the employer and really sets you apart from the crowd.

I agree. I am going to try to get my CPS/CAP certification in the next year or so. I have a lot of things going on in my life right now, but this is definitely on my to-do list of things to do for my career.
