2 Resume questions for you guys...
Hi,
I've been looking at a lot of resumes on line (for senior management position). It seems like some folks put educational background right under career objective and others put it at the end after professional background. What do you think? Does anyone have a strong preference?

Also, do you favor listing your references on your resume or the age-old "references available upon request..."

Any other great success tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks so very much,
Mary

Great questions Mary,

Wow, where do I start? Personally, I like to list educational background lastly. So, to me it would seem appropriate after my professional background. I'm not sure that there is any rule that states where it should go, so I would follow your personal preference.

As for references, I always use the time honored tradition of "references available upon request." This is not to be difficult or to stall for time while I find some credible references but a mere attempt at saving space. Of course, it's another preference thing.

I'd love to hear from our members on this as well. What do you all think?

I put my education at the end, but education isn't a major issue in the administrative support field. I've seen it most commonly in jobs that require higher education, specifically in higher education. Most CVs for intructor and professor positions tend to address education first.

I always put my references on a seperate document, but I generally mail it with my resume.

Re: 2 Resume questions for you guys...
I tailor my resume according to the job description. I want my resume to to have their keywords pop out from my resume. If education is of a must issue, I have it at the right above experience. If experience and skill set are major than education comes after. Some employers do not take the time to find what they are looking for in your resume. If they don't see it at a glance they move on to the next, however, if those keywords pop out at them, you have their interest and they will continue to read.
