Another Country
I've committed myself to teaching in England where my fiance resides. I am qualified for many of the teaching postions available but still have no effective resume highlighting all my experience and enthusiam. I am having difficulties explaining that it is a gift I have for teaching, and that the thirst I've always had for life which has pulled me away from the feild for the last four years is the reason why it is my only career choice. How do I focus my job search and specialize my resume and cover letter with all the information I have?

Re: Another Country
Jeffrey, I highly recommend that you write a heartfelt cover letter to accompany your resume. Your passion is obvious from what you said above, and I'm sure that will come across in the letter. Let this be the place where you highlight your enthusiasm, love for life, and your gratitude that you possess the gift for teaching.
You may also consider visiting our Career Section. We have an amazing service provider, Lisa Olsen (who is also a regular contributor here at OfficeArrow). Lisa provides resume evaluation and makeovers for a very reasonable price. It's an investment you may want to consider since it sounds like getting a position in the same country as your fiance is a pretty important task Best of luck! |

Re: Another Country
HI Jef,
I have had a near experience. I am very efficient and effective in whatever I do, but it took me six years to land a job and gain experience after school. You know why, I was always aiming at the bluechip organisations to the extend that, one organisation gave me appointment I had not solicited for, but I turned it down, hoping for the big league. After a longwhile, when nothing was forthcoming I became desperate and would settled for anything. I don't know exactly what you are hoping for, but start small, build yourself up with experience and the reward will became abundant. Experience is the watchword in today's competitive job environment. This is how I was able to make it |
