free money
I know there is no such thing as "free money" however, I keep hearing and seeing information from others and the web on how the govnmnt will assist with funds to get a small business started. Has anyone found this to be true and if so where can I get such information?

Re: free money
It wouldn't be free money, but you can get a Small Business Start-Up Loan. Check out this website for more information on government grants: Grants.gov

Re: free money
Anyone promising you "free money" is looking for something and you will get taken for a ride.
The government has small business programs for you to apply to for loans, but you should go to www.sba.gov for more details. Please don't fall prey to these scams out there. |

Re: free money
These guys telling you that the government will give you free money will ask you for yours and you will get absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact the SBS does not give money for opening a business. They even state that on their website. Lauren and Stuart are right, you can apply for SBA loans. The loans should have a lower interest rate. I also have found free training opportunities on the SBA website. They will teach you how to write a business plan, something you will need to apply for a loan. You can also look into getting a job contract with the government. I believe the SBA website has information about that process. Follow their sound advice to open your business and you can't go wrong.

I have started a small business with help from the government. The one thing is that you really have to put alot into it. I got help from a place called SCORE. It's retired business execs that really guide you in putting together a business plan, then I went to my local SBA, and that's where I got a small loan from the gov't. It took some time and alot of work-that guy on TV makes it look too easy; and you really have to be absolutely clear about your business, prospects and what you think you'll need to finance it. |
