New to OA
Hello, I'm new to the OA site.

I am a 20 year secretary looking for a permanent position.

I was with AT&T for 13 years when my Officer left the company. I worked at Avaya (a spin off of a spin off of AT&T) for almost 3 years and now I find myself temping, ugh.

I am amazed at how many jobs are now requiring a bachelor's degree with little or no experience supporting an executive. That's a change from when I started. I know plenty of people who have a bachelor's degree, but honestly could not learn in college what I have learned in the past 20 years, not to say I wouldn't love to have my degree, but it is disheartening to find a job that I have the skills to do, but then see the little requirement of bachelor's degree listed.

Oh well, I have every confidence that at some point I will find my new job.

I look forward to using OA as I progress in my career.

Hi ljmorgan,

Welcome to the OfficeArrow community. We have a lot of helpful resources to aid you in your job search. Our Career Services section would be a good place to look first.
Best of luck to you - I think any business professional would rank experience over education in the real world. Keep your resume updated and highlight those achievements, you should be in good shape.
