VerticalResponse was founded by their current CEO Janine Popick. After the dot-com bomb, she and her husband packed up their two basset hounds and headed for France (as any self-respecting ex-dot-commer would). They started thinking about what the marketing industry was truly missing, and realized that while tons of companies were sending out tons of emails with products like Outlook, they weren't getting the statistics that are so important to any marketing campaign. They moved back to the States, pulled together funding from family and friends (and their own pockets), and VerticalResponse was born in 2001.
